Sound familiar?

  • You feel bloated, heavy, or uncomfortable after meals.
  • Your digestion is unpredictable, so you plan your day around it.
  • You were told to "eat more fiber" or "cut out gluten." It didn't fix a thing.
  • You've felt dismissed, or a little embarrassed to bring it up.
  • You don't want to give up the foods tied to who you are.

You're not imagining it. And you don't need a 30-item avoid list. You need someone to find your pattern.

Why I do this work

I'm Mayra García-Zeda, a Puerto Rican GI dietitian. I grew up around a table full of arroz, habichuelas, and café.

I started Gutsy Bites because I was tired of watching people get buried in conflicting gut advice, pricey supplements, and endless "don't eat that" lists.

So I take real gut science and make it work in your kitchen. No fear. No shame. No giving up who you are.

What we work on together

  • Bloating and gas. Is it food, pace, constipation, or swallowed air? Your pattern gives us clues.
  • IBS. Including Low FODMAP done right: short, guided, then bringing foods back.
  • Constipation and GLP-1 side effects. On Ozempic or Wegovy and can't go? More fiber isn't always the answer.
  • Reflux and upper-gut fullness. Feel full fast or burn after meals? We look at what, when, and how you eat.
  • Gluten-free diet support. Eat safely without losing the meals you grew up with.
  • Kidney disease (CKD) and chronic conditions. Medical nutrition therapy that fits your plate, not just a handout.

How it works

1. Check your coverage. Your coverage is checked before you pay anything.

2. Meet me by video. From home, in English or Spanish. We go through your symptoms, your meals, and your history.

3. Get a plan built around your food. Clear next steps. We change only what needs changing, and any food we pause has a plan to come back.

What patients say

"She doesn't just focus on short-term results. She thinks about your long-term health. Her approach is thoughtful, personalized, and very clearly explained." CG, Texas

"I was dealing with persistent diarrhea that was really affecting my daily life. After seeing her and making daily changes to my eating habits, I was able to overcome it. She is professional, knowledgeable, and caring." VM, Texas

"I especially appreciated how respectful she was of my cultural background. She made the first steps feel realistic and doable, not overwhelming." IZ, Maryland

Individual results vary. Nutrition therapy is not a guarantee of any specific outcome.

Questions people ask first

Will I have to give up rice, beans, tortillas, or café?

Not by default. We find your pattern first, then change only what needs changing.

Is this covered by insurance?

Most patients pay $0 out of pocket. Your coverage is checked before you pay.

I already tried Low FODMAP. Why would this be different?

Low FODMAP isn't meant to last forever. Done right, it's short and guided, and then foods come back. That last part is the one people usually skip on their own.

Do I have to come in person?

No. Every visit is by video, in English or Spanish.
